Officially, the value of this year’s business arrangements that Kragujevac-based factory Zastava Arms made with foreign partners worldwide exceeds USD 40 million, while unofficial sources claim that Zastava Arms’ exports in 2014 could exceed USD 50 million, which would be the best export result of Zastava Arms in the past 25 years and one of the best ever achieved by the oldest arms factory in the Balkans.
The export of infantry arms to Libya, or the “job of the decade” as many people call it, should bring about FX revenue of about USD 100 million. According to the daily Danas, Zastava Arms has so far exported few batches of machine guns to Libya worth few million US dollars.
This Kragujevac-based company also exports infantry arms to the Near East, primarily Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and few other markets. This year Zastava returned to Angola which used to be one of the largest buyers of arms made in ex-Yugoslavia.
In 2014, Zastava Arms plans to start the penetration of Egyptian market as well.
