Inspection of Serbia soybean fields to start, all GMO crops to be destroyed

The phytosanitary inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Waterpower Engineering of the Republic of Serbia will carry out a thorough check of soybean crops as well as an inspection of soybean purchases, with the aim of preventing the growing of GMO soybean and its sales. The Agriculture Ministry has warned agricultural manufacturers that the GMO Law in Serbia forbids this form of production and trade.
If it is determined by inspection that there are fields planted with GMO soybean, such crops will be completely destroyed and the owners of such fields will be prosecuted pursuant to the GMO Law, while their farms will be classified as passive, meaning that they will be deprived of all kinds of incentives.
Soybean manufacturers should know that EU countries are interested in soybean made in Serbia mainly because it is not a GMO.
