The Danube, only water corridor in Europe, great opportunity for shipping business in Serbia

The Danube river is one of the 10 declared European traffic corridors. "Corridor 7", as they call the Danube river, is the only waterway and it passes through our country in the length of 587.5 km, which represents 25% of total length of the navigable way.

Serbian fleet has become richer for 257 Austrian and Hungarian vessels since Zoran Drakulić and his "East Point" bought Austrian company "DDSG Cargo". The new fleet, according to the new owners, will ensure that Serbian companies control significant share of the transportation of goods from Rotterdam in Netherlands to Konstanza in Romania.

- If the intentions for concentration of shipping be realized, that would lead to making Serbian river fleet absolutely the strongest on the Danube - said Milosav Jelić, the Commercial Manager of Yugoslav River Shipping, which owns about 150 vessels. - In this way, Serbian companies would control major share of everything transported by the Danube.
