Construction of bypass around Fruska Gora, one of the most significant projects for Vojvodina and the rest of Serbia, will commence 2016.
- The project charter has already been written by the Koridori Srbije company, and the deadline to give an opinion on this document expires today (9 April 2014). If it turns out that the mayors of municipalities along the route of the bypass, people from the ministry and engineers have no objections, the process of inviting bids for the preparation of designs for that bypass will kick off - says Igor Mirovic, the minister of regional development and local self-government.
For this tender, Serbia and Vojvodina have set aside RSD 400 million. Once the designs are completed, Novi Sad will have to expropriate the land along the route of the corridor.
- It is estimated that it will cost about RSD 900 million to resolve all property issue - said Goran Visnjic, the director of the City Development Institute.
The total length of the Novi Sad - Ruma corridor is over 30 kilometers, including a tunnel through Fruska Gora, and it should take 30 months to complete all the works. Construction of this tunnel and highway will cost EUR 57 million, a half of which will be provided by the province and the other half by the republic. It will run through three municipalities (Novi Sad, Irig and Ruma) with a total population of about 400,000. There are 12 industrial zone and one free zone in the vicinity of the highway route.
