A total of RSD 320 million is earmarked for the recyling industry this year, but a solution to the problem faced by this industry may be to form a green fund that should operate independently, State Secretary of the Energy Ministry Dejan Novakovic said today.

He told the press at the 1st Regional Environmental Conference at Mount Tara that the plan was to form that green fund which would make decisions and work on project finance on its own.

Novakovic reminded that the representatives of the recycling industry had so far been paid for the waste processed in Q1 2013, adding that further payments were halted due to a lack of money in the budget.

Therefore, in the following period we should count more on the help of financial institutions, that is, on the funds of the World Bank or the EBRD which set aside money to help green funds in the region.

Novakovic said that the examples of such funds were the Croatian Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and the Green Fund in Slovenia.
