Decision on introduction of direct flights between Serbia and USA in July

- Early July 2014 is when we expect to receive a report on the final outcome of a check on whether Serbia meets criteria for the Category 1 and, hopefully, a change of status - the Civil Aviation Directorate of Serbia announced after a five-day visit of the team of inspectors of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
As it is pointed out in the release, a high level of professionalism in the competence of the Civil Aviation Directorate of Serbia and high committment to the air traffic safety system were stressed at the final meeting with the FAA team.
The release adds that in addition to five members of the FAA inspection team, the U.S. delegation also included a representative of the State Department and an aviation expert from the European Aviation Safety Agency.
If Serbia acquires the Category 1 status, all interested airlines from Serbia and the USA will again be able to operate direct flights between these two countries after more than 20 years.
