An electric bus made by the Chinese manufacturer BYD has arrived from the Netherlands to Belgrade and is going to be tested in the streets of the capital of Serbia over the next month. If the city authorities are pleased with the characteristics of this vehicle, it is possible that an order will be placed for a certain number of electric buses.
The new bus is currently on the grounds of the Dorcol facility of the City Transportation Company (GSP) Beograd, but it won't be operated until the Public Transportation Directorate gets necessary attestations and accompanying documentation. By then, the bus will remain hidden from the public, and it even has its own keeper.
As the daily 24 sata reports, the "rookie" will operate on the 29 bus line.
- We will test the vehicle to see how much electricity it consumes and how it behaves on the road in general, that is, whether the passengers are satisfied. For now, I can only say that it looks very nice - says Ugljesa Mitrovic, the director of the Public Transportation Directorate.
The BYD electric bus will be the first bus powered by electricity in use in Belgrade.
