Belgrade could soon get another port on the Danube

In Belgrade, on the left bank of the Danube, downstream from the Pančevo Bridge,
a new harbor might be built, as long as the study, for which the City Building Land Directorate has recently announced a public invitation, justifies its construction.
One of the basic city planning goals expressed
in the General Land-Utilization Plan is the orientation of Belgrade toward the
Danube, which is one of the two most important traffic corridors in our country - Corridor 7
and Corridor 10.
On a surface of about 600 ha, downstram from the Pančevo Bridge, the General Land-Utilization Plan of Belgrade implied the construction of a river harbor, industrial zone and free zone. This large surface, which extends along the Pančevo Road, on the left and right side, in the corridor of about 1.5 km and about 5 km long, enables the concentration of transportation and production capacities at one place.
According to the solutions from the valid plan documents, the construction of a new international pier is planned in Belgrade, so that, by financing the production of the justification study for the construction of a new harbor, the Directorate is starting to implement this project.
Location and capacity of the new pier should secure modern methods of reloading freight and containers, which implies construction of multimodal transport terminal.
