Fiat recalls 19,5000 units of Fiat 500L from USA and Canada over transmission problem

In a release occasioned by this recall, Fiat says that some 500L drivers had trouble getting the car out of park and shifting gears.

The problem is believed to stem from a microcontroller component in the car's dual-clutch transmission that can become compromised at extreme temperatures. All vehicles affected by this recall will be examined to sort this issue.

Fiat adds that about 20 percent of the recalled vehicles are still in dealer inventories. So far, there have been no crashes or injuries resulting from this double-clutch transmission problem.
