The announcement of the first man of "Srbijagas", Miloš Milanković, that this public company could ask Russian "Gazprom" for help in the completion of underground gas storage "Banatski Dvor", without previous announcement of the tender for this job, confused the authorized in the Ministry of Mining and Energy.

– The Ministry of Energy has so far signed the contract only with "Naftagas" on the completion of the first phase of construction of underground gas storage "Banatski Dvor". For that purpose, 11.3m EUR have been set aside from the National Investment Plant - said Milutin Prodanović, Assistant to the Minister.

"Srbijagas" confirmed that "Gazprom" had been publicly "called" because "Srbijagas" had founded joint venture "Jugorosgas" with that Russian company. In that joint venture, Russian side owns 75% of assets, whereas Serbian side possesses 25%.

Having this in mind, "Srbijagas" explains, it is natural that the job first be offered to the partner. Since Russian side showed interest in "Banatski Dvor" long time ago, it is one more reason why "Srbijagas" counts on Russia-based company.
