Construction of a bypass from Pirot to Bela Palanka will directly and indirectly employ 700 people, it was announced Tuesday (11 March 2014) at the presentation of the Bulgarian company Trace Group, the contract winner for this job, in the administrative building of the Pirot Region.

Ivan Hristov, a representative of that company, told Tanjug news agency that the work on that bypass, running parallel to the construction of Corridor X, would cost about EUR 34 million, adding that "over 700 people, mainly from this area, will be employed directly and indirectly".

- The construction of this road will engage only several leading engineers from Bulgaria, about twenty engineers from Serbia, as well as 100-150 workers who will be hired directly by our company. When the workers that will be indirectly hired by companies with which we cooperate on this project are added up, we come to a conclusion that between 700 and 1,000 people will participate in the construction of 22 kilometers of road between Pirot and Bela Palanka - he said.

All the work is to be finished in one year, and Hristov added that people from Bulgaria had already arrived in Pirot.
