More "light" for Vojvodina - new substation "Sombor 3" put into operation

Today (January 15, 2007), Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Radomir Naumov, and General Manager of company "Elektro-mreža Srbije" (EMS), Dragan Vignjević, put new substation "Sombor 3" into operation in Sombor. The investment into construction of this substations amounted to 16.9m EUR.

Major part of the funds (15.5m EUR) was provided from the credit approved by European Bank for REconstruction, while EMS invested 1.4m EUR. Implementation of the entire project was entrusted to company "Siemens" from Vienna, whereas the architectural part of work was carried out by company "Energoprojekt".

- Substation "Sombor 3" is only one more in the sereies of significant investments that will much strengthen our, as far as energy sector is concerned, leading position in this part of Europe - Naumov pointed out.

The Manager of EMS, Dragan Vignjević, said that the new substation had been built for record six months, that up-to-date equipment had been installed in it, as well as that all requests concerning environment protection had been met.

The direct benefit from the construction of the aforementioned substation will have consumers in Sombor, Odžaci, Crvenka, Kula, Vrbas, Bajmok and Apatin, of which electric power supply safety will significantly grow thanks to this investment. However, the entire electric network will have benefits for the fact that substation "Sombor 3" will contribute to unburdening of nearby substations, reduction of losses in transfer network, etc.
