Implementation of the Belgrade on Water project commenced March 8 with the removal of railway tracks at the train station Belgrade in the vicinity of Gazela Bridge, and the work on the first phase of relocation of railway facilities is expected to be completed in six to eight months.

The ceremony of kicking off these works was attended by Serbian Railways General Manager Dragoljub Simonovic and President of the Transient Council of Belgrade Sinisa Mali, who pointed out it was a historical day for Belgrade and Serbia.

Mali told numerous journalists who attended aforementioned ceremony that the Belgrade on Water project was a chance for the development of the entire country and the Serbian construction industry, adding that the construction of first four buildings on the Sava Amphitheater site should start by the year's end.

Simonovic said that the value of the first phase of removal of railway infrastructure in that location amounted to EUR 2.55 million.

The project Belgrade on Water calls for the construction of a residential, business and cultural complex in which, as it was announced, the United Arab Emirates is going to invest USD 3 billion.
