Serbian Railways General Manager Dragoljub Simonovic and Sergey Pavlov, the general manager of the Russian national railway company RZD International, signed Thursday an annex to two agreements on the Russian loan for reconstruction and modernization of six stretches on Corridor X, whose total length is 112 kilometers.
These stretches are as follows: Ruma-Golubinci, Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac, Mala Krsna-Velika Plana, Vinarci-Djordjevo, Vranjska Banja-Ristovac, and Bujanovac-Bukarevac.
Simonovic reminded that the reconstruction and modernization of six stretches on Corridor X was one of the five projects aimed at modernizing Serbian railways which would be financed with the proceeds of the Russian state loan in the amount of about USD 800 million. He also announced that 60 new trains would operated on Serbia railways as of next year.
Russian Ambassador Alexander Chepurin announced that the work would commence in maximum two weeks, adding that the most important thing was to respect the deadlines.
