KOSTIC: We will create the best bank in Serbia

MK Group President Miodrag Kostic told Tanjug news agency on Wednesday that the intention of his group was to make AIK banka the most efficient banking platform in Serbia and to boost profits through the expansion of the bank's portfolio of both retail and corporate services, expressing his hope that that shouldn't take too much time.

- AIK banka will be rendering both retail and corporate services, and it is for sure that MK Group is not going to expand its large network of offices, but simply make sure that their number is optimal for Serbia - Kostic explained and added that the bank would continue to provide corporate banking and project finance services.

Considering its size, MK Group already behaves as a bank and has business arrangements with about twenty banks, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), International Finance Corporation (IFC - part of the World Bank), German Development Bank (KfW), Dutch Development Bank, Austrian Development Bank, etc., said Kostic.

- We are already in the banking business, while I myself am on the Managing Board of AIK banka for as many as 17 years now - the president of MK Group said and added that the acquisition of AIK banka reflected the continuity in MK Group's operations that ended in the takeover of majority stake in that bank.
