EMS: Government OKs formation of power exchange

Serbia is going to form a power exchange called SEEPEX that will be 75% owned by the French partner Epex spot and 25% by Elektromreza Srbije, EMS Director Nikola Petrovic announced Wednesday.

- The Government has permitted us to form this power exchange. We will do that in cooperation with the French company because it has a vast experience in electricity trading - Petrovic said and added that Epex spot was covering the markets of France and Germany.

He noted that the power exchange was due to be formed in Q3 2014, adding that its full functionality was expected in Q1 2015.

- After the formation, we expect to connect SEEPEX with neighboring power exchanges in the region. This will probably happen in Q3 2015 - Petrovic added.
