IMF analyzes budget and public finance in Serbia - Precautionary arrangement most probably after elections

A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that came to Serbia on a technical mission today began talks with the representatives of our country about the state of budget and public finance which will be the main topic for discussion over the next two weeks, State Secretary of the Finance Ministry Nikola Corsovic confirmed today to Tanjug news agency.

According to him, the talks will last for that long because the IMF wants to all the details related to public finance, such as budget, public debt, plans of all the ministries that are big budget users, etc.

It is a comprehensive insight into the current state and various possible future scenarios, the state secretary explained and added that the political part of this story would start the next week.

- The idea is to make a precautionary arrangement in the aftermath of elections, after the new government is formed. That is not a credit arrangement. Instead, the IMF just makes an assessment that our policy is sustainable and that we are a financially stable country - Corsovic concluded.

The IMF delegation on a technical mission to our country, which is led by Zuzana Murgasova, will stay in Serbia until March 13th.
