Workers of Shipyard "Beograd" started construction of its biggest cargo ship ever

Construction of so far the biggest cargo ship, under the name of "Beluga Skysails", commenced in Shipyard "Beograd". The ship will be 132.2 m long and 15 m wide and it will have draft of 7.73 m.

The orderer is German company "Beluga Shipping" and the carrier and the investor is Dutch company for shipbuilding "Vahali Service & Marine", which started production of ship parts on the rented space of our shipyard in 2006.

"Beluga Skysails" will be a multipurpose cargo ship, equipped with cranes and sails the size of two football playgrounds, which were patented by German company that ordered the ship.

Pavle Miljković, the Manager of Shipyard "Beograd", said that the Belgrade shipyard participated in the construction of the cargo ship by providing the entire infrastructure and part of personnel.

- Our company will engage 40 workers in the implementation of the project. The capacities of the ship will equal 10,000 tons or 700 containers, whereas the entire project is worth about 25m EUR – Miljković added.
