Norwegians interested in producing safety equipment at Business Incubator Center in Nis

A company from Norway, whose name has not been reaveled yet, is interested in producing safety equipment on the premises of the Business Incubator Center in Nis, it was said at a session of the City Council.

According to Dejana Stefanovic, assistant to the mayor of Nis, the Business Incubator Center that is intended for the development of small enterprises has gone through a real reorganization.

BIC has got a new director, Ljiljana Urosevic, who used to live in Rotterdam and work as a financial inspector there. Existing contracts with tenants have been revised, and many of them have left the Incubator Center.

The City Council of Nis has adopted certain amendments to the BIC Second Incubation Cycle project and announced some new investments.

- The Norwegian embassy is a completely new story as they plan to launch the project in cooperation with the City. The plan is set up a factory for producing safety equipment - Stefanovic said at the session of the City Council.

In order for this cooperation to happen, the City needs to provide guarantee funds for the Incubator Center, which is why the City Council has already approved RSD 17 million to BIC.

Also, applications for EUR 4 million worth of grants for 4 projects have been submitted to European funds which should soon select the projects to finance.

Let us remind that that BIC was formed in late 2005 on the premises of the former Machining Industry in Sumadijska Street, not far away from OTC. Initially, it gathered 13 entrepeneurs who operated mainly production facilities partially with the help of the City and partially through project finance.
