Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic, Dutch Ambassador Nils Ragnar Kamsvag and Leskovac Mayor Goran Cvetanovic signed Friday (14 February 2014) an agreement on a donation of nearly EUR 8 million for the construction of wastewater treatment plant in Leskovac.
This project, which is financed under the ORIO program of the Dutch government, is now entering its third phase.
Construction works commenced October 2013, and the donation from the Dutch government will be used to build a sewerage network in the northern part of Leskovac.
- Once completed, the sewerage network in this neighborhood will contribute to the agrarian policy of our region because it will improve conditions for the production of healthy food - said Mayor Cvetanovic.
The plan is to connect about 20 settlements to the Leskovac central sewerage system via aforementioned sewerage network.
Their wastewater will be sent to the wastewater treatment plant that costs about EUR 22 million to build.
