Chinese investors eye Budimka in Pozega

Chinese investors are interested in investing in fruit growing business in Serbia, Agriculture Minister Dragan Glamocic announced at Pozega-based Budimka factory which he and investors from China visited Wednesday (February 12).

- Potential investors from China have expressed interest in investing in the fruit growing sector in Serbia, and Budimka can again become a market leader only with the help of new investments - said Glamocic.

During their visit, guests from China were introduced to the production capacity of Budimka, one of Serbia's former top manufacturers of marmalades, jams, juices and canned fruits.

The minister pointed to agriculture as one of the greatest potentials of Serbia, citing that as the reason why it is necessary to invest in the food industry which brings over EUR 2 billion to Serbia every year from exports alone.

Pozega-based Budimka was privatized in 2008, whereas the privatization agreement was terminated in 2010. The company is now undergoing reorganization. There are about 100 workers at the factory at the moment.
