New production units of company "Pompea", "Fulgar" and English "Alena" - most significant foreign "greenfield" investments in Serbia

According to the data provided by the Republic Investment and Export Promotion Agency - SIEPA, creation of 6,700 new jobs has been enabled in Serbia in 2006, mainly thanks to the engagement of that agency and its stimulation of foreign "greenfield" investments.
Thus, SIEPA with 2,000 EUR finances creation of each of 370 new jobs in the textile production units that are being built in Zrenjanin by Italian companies "Pompea" and "Fulgar", with the investment of 25m EUR. Hiring of 3,000 workers in the new textile factory in Vranje, which is being built by English company "Alena" with the investment of 5m EUR, will be financed with the same amount per worker and the money will be provided from the National Investment Plan.
English company "Albon inženjering" has signed the contract on construction of the factory of machines for production of parts for truck diesel engines, in which it will invest 8m EUR and employ 200 workers. Also, construction of another factory worth 10m EUR is in the pipeline.
Austrian "Mobilkom" has bought the third license for mobile telephony in Serbia for 320m EUR and it plans to employ 320 workers. Prior to 2009, it will invest another 280m EUR in the construction of network and founding of a company.
Distributive center "Metro Cash&Carry" worth 16m EUR has been opened in Niš and it employs 200 workers.
