Company "Srbijašume" to sign contract on export of 50,000 square meters of fire-wood

General Manager of company "Srbijašume", Ješa Erčić, said that that public company was in the middle of negotiations about export of 50,000 cubic meters of fire-wood for year 2007 to the market of Italy, Slovakia and other countries. Erčić said that that would represent the extension of the job on export of 3,500 cubic meters of fire-wood to Austria.

He pointed out that it had been estimated that year 2006 would be the most successful in 15-year history of that company. According to his words, the profit in amount of about 2.2m RSD was realized in the first half of the year, whereas, at the same time, 134m RSD were spent on the voluntary departure of 558 workers.

In 2006, "Srbijašume" planted about 4m trees and distributed among the private owners of forests another 2.5m nursery plants of deciduous trees and conifers.

The priority of "Srbijašume" is, according to his words, to increase the areas under the forests on the territory of Serbia prior to year 2020 from present 27% to 41%, which would place the country among highly developed countries of Europe as far as forests are concerned. Erčić pointed out that 146m RSD would be set aside from the National Investment Plan for the afforestation works in 2007.
