The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested EUR 424 million in Serbia in 2013, and it is yet to decide on the amount of investments to make this year, Director of the EBRD Office in Serbia Matteo Patrone said today.

At the presentation of the EBRD Transition Report 2013, Patrone said that the investments in 2013 were 50 percent bigger than in the previous year. The EBRD invested in 24 projects, three of which were implemented in the public sector.

According to him, the EBRD has contributed a total of EUR 3.5 billion to Serbia since 2001 for 175 projects.

Patrone announced that the EBRD was preparing a new strategy for Serbia for the next four years, adding that it would be based on three pillars - the improvement of competitiveness of the private sector, the development of the financial sector, and the development of the infrastructure sector.
