New unit for production of biological pesticides opened in Zrenjanin, investment worth over 70m RSD

Yesterday (December 20, 2006), the President of the Executive Council of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtić, opened a new unit for the production of a new generation of biological pesticides in "Bio-ecology Center" in Zrenjanin. The value of the entire project is more than 70m RSD.

Pointing out that Zrenjanin's unit is the only manufacturer of biological pesticides in this part of Europe and that there are only two other biological insecticide manufacturers in the world, Pajtić specified that the large part of production was intended for export into EU.

He said that the unit for production of biological pesticides was one of 11 new units that would be opened in Vojvodina within following month and half.

Reminding that the project in Zrenjanin was realized with great financial help and cooperation with the Executive Council of Vojvodina, the Provincial Secretary for Science and Technological Development, Dr. Dragoslav Petrović, said that 2m EUR from the Provincial funds had been invested into the development of new technologies in 2006 and announced that 10m EUR would be set aside for those purposes in the following year.
