Pilot plan for management of Sava river - Croatia, BIH, SCG

European Commission (EuropeAid, Brussels) started, some time ago, capital regional project for Management of the Sava River, which passes through 4 ex-YU countries and represents exceptional economic and cohesion factor between these states. The Project will be realized and financed in the scope financial project EC - Cards 2003 Regional Programme. It will last for 3 years (from October 2004 to September 2007). The consulting companies that are hired for this purpose are Safege France/Belgium, UNESCO-IHE Netherlands and Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade. Besides the representatives of water management of Croatia, BIH and Serbia, the representatives of the authorities of Slovenia, Montenegro and Kosovo and Metohia will take part in it.

The Project recognizes aspects of city planning, commercial, storage, transportation, hydro and tourist opportunities, as well as influence of economic activities on environment. Of course, the influence on other river basins (the Kupa, the Vrbas, the Kolubara...), as well as influence of the Sava river basin on the Danube, are taken into consideration.
