MIHAJLOVIC: Negotiating team with EU for Ecology ready in January

Ministry of Energy, Development and Living Environment Protection of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic stated that she would represent a team in January 2014 which would on behalf of the state start negotiating with the European Union in the field of living environment protection.
-The team will have a task to do the platform for negotiations in less than 30 days, said Mihajlovic to BETA Agency.
The team will consist of at least 10 people not only from the Ministry but also experts who had already had negotiations in the field of living environment protection.
The Minister reminded that a set of regulations regarding the living environment make a third of all regulations Serbia must adjust in the process of joining EU.
According to her words, bigger issue than money necessary for adjusting the economy and the citizens with EU regulations, related to air and water pollution, chemicals, waste management, bio technology, radio active radiation protection, preservation of natural resources, climatic changes, represent raising the consciousness in citizens about the necessity of ecological protection.
-The problem will be realization, true application of these laws in practice - says Mihajlovic, naming that critical points in Serbia are waste management, chemicals and adjustment to climatic changes, as these areas haven't had enough of the expected progress.
Mihajlovic added that the negotiating team of Serbia will make sure to get in these negotiations enough time for realization of all standards and directives.
Estimated expenses that Serbia will have to invest in adjustment of the economy in the field of living environment protection amount to more than 10 billion EUR.
