Start up of the furnace in 'Smederevo Steelworks' - First iron on 8 January

On Sunday (January, 5, 2014), the burner was inserted in the furnace number two in " Smederevo steelworks " , which is the beginning of the steady process of launching the furnace. Blowing phase is expected for tomorrow, and the first iron will flow on 8 January.
- We expect that after the planned overhaul, we can start production , but it is necessary for the state to comply with the agreement and provide us with a bank guarantee as planned so that we can ensure continuous production - it was stated to BETA by the Union president of ASNS in " Smederevo steelworks ", Sasa Colic.
He added that half of the year, " Smederevo Steel Works " has not received a single euro from the state and that it is necessary for the Government to comply with the agreement .
He pointed out that " Fiat Group " is expected this year to make a decision on investment of nine million euros in the production of new car models, and that the Government wants to have at least one more model produced in Serbia .
- In this case, " Smederevo Steel Works " could continuously manufacture sheet metal for the `Fiat Group` with the appropriate investment of around EUR 100 million, said Colic.
