The value of foreign direct investments in Serbia in the first 11 months of this year is at EUR 630 million and is expected to reach about EUR 700 million by the year's end, said the representatives of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).

FDI in 2014 is expected to grow a bit, to about EUR 1 billion.

NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic told a press conference that the central bank expected EUR 1 billion worth of foreign investments in 2013 as well because a bank from the United Arab Emirates had been supposed to start operations in Serbia in August.

As she explained, that hasn't happened yet because this bank is a serious investor that is now preparing documentation and wants to make sure to prevent all problems. She added that the process would be successfully completed in the near future.
