Sogelease gets EUR 20 million for on-lending to SMEs in Serbia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a EUR 20 million credit facility to the leasing company Sogelease Srbija for on-lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in all regions of Serbia for leasing the equipment, light commercial vehicles, trucks and trailers.

According to a release issued by the EBRD, leasing is an important source of long-term funding for SMEs and is extremely significant when access to loans is made difficult, which is a problem experienced by most small and medium-sized enterprises in the country, especially in the south of Serbia.

As the EBRD stressed, this is a big obstacle to the overall growth of the economy given that SMEs represent the backbone of Serbia's economy.
