ABB presents RELION devices to representatives of power distribution companies

ABB company presented a Relion family of relay protection and control devices to the experts from Elektromreza Srbije (EMS - Power transmission company of Serbia) and number of Distribution utilities from virtually all parts of Serbia.
According to the previously signed agreement with EMS, ABB organised dedicated training for relay protection professionals. The goal of this training was for the relay protection professionals from EMS and Distribution utilities to become more familiar with the current ABB portfolio of the relay protection and control devices intended for high and medium voltage facilities. The training was held by our relay protection expert, Mr Zoran Gajić, PhD, Product manager for relay protection devices in ABB in Vasteras, Sweden. The training held in EMS facilities involved more than 50 participants from various EMS departments, as well as representatives of Elektrovojvodina, EDB, PD Jugoistok, Elektrosrbija, Elektroistok Projektovanje, IED and ELNOS BL. After the training, the attendees were issued Attendance certificates.
The training was organised into five one-day sessions with the following topics: distance protection REL670/650, line differential protection RED670, transformer protection RET670/650, busbar protections REB670 and REB500, bay controller REC670/650 and Wide Area Protection WAMS - RES670 PSGuard. A special focus was on the 650 series, which functionality, technical characteristics, quality and price are mainly intended for 110kV voltage level. These modern products inherited the working philosophy and algorithms from already proven generations of ABB devices. The advantages of RELION 650 series are increased safety of personnel, reduced number of failures of equipment and minimised time to restore power grid after blackout, what is the result of years of experience and the latest technology applied.
Some of the superior characteristics of RELION 650 series are the following:
· Delivery of preconfigured devices for all types of applications
· Simple modification of preconfigured devices to meet user specific needs
· Integration of protection and control functions in a single device
· High implementation reliability – two communication ports supporting the PRP protocol
· Free software for the configuration and setting of relays – PCM600
· Software adjustable current inputs 1A/5A
· Native IEC61850 standard (including analogue GOOSE messages)
· Large graphic display for SLD visualisation
· Possibility of a simultaneous control up to 30 device from just one device
· Possibility of configuration up to 20 analogue, 48 binary inputs and 45 binary outputs
ABB’s network of experts offers to our clients a high quality support through device training, network analysis, application configuration, simulation of network operation and system engineering.
