The Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) announced Friday (6 December 2013) that the drilling of the first horisontal well in the Kikinda Varos oil field was completed, adding that its potential was estimated at 40 tonnes of oil per day.
As it was announced, it took the experts of the Hungarian company TDE 30 days to finish the EUR 5 million work on this horisontal well.
The well is 2,670 meters deep, while its horisontal part is 250 meters long.
Preparation works that were carried out by the experts of the Science and Technology Center of NIS-Naftagas involved the use of modern technology of "tridimensional (3D) geological and hydrodynamic modeling."
Horisontal drilling in the Kikinda Varos oil field is the first successful project of that kind in southeast Europe.
