Italians eye fruits from Podunavlje

Representatives of Italian companies Area Europa and SIPO expressed interest on Friday in the production of fruits and vegetables in the Podunavlje District in Serbia and their export to Europe, primarily Italy and Russia.

These two companies, which are engaged in the production and processing of fruits and vegetables, met in the City Hall of Smederevo with registered agricultural households and cooperatives of the Podunavlje District to discuss investments and plans to set up a corporation that would export top-quality fruits and vegetables to Europe.

Smederevo Mayor Jasna Avramovic talked with Italian companies in Bologna in late November about the plans of a small Italian firm to open a factory for producing electronic cigarettes in Smederevo and hire 50 workers.
