Online retailer Amazon is testing out drones that may take over the role of delivering ordered products in few years.

These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) called Octocopter should be used to deliver parcels weighing up to 2.3 kilograms, Amazon CEO Jeffrey P. Bezos announced last weekend.

According to BBC, Bezos said it would take at least five years to really put these drones to use.

- I know that this now sounds like science fiction, but it is not. (...) One day these means of transportation will be completely normal, just like the trucks we see every day in the streets - Bezos said in his guest appearance on CBS' 60 Minutes.

This service should be called Prime Air, but its official approval by the U.S. government is still pending. Amazon expects to get the green light for Octocopter drones in 2015.
