Next year Serbia will prepare plans for the application of key European environmental regulations and an analysis of harmonization costs that are now estimated at EUR 10 billion, it was said Wednesday at a working breakfast where the attendees discussed the issue of harmonization of Serbian environmental regulations with those of the EU. Miroslav Tadic, a representative of the Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection, reiterated that the Environmental Approximation Strategy included an estimate that it is necessary to invest in excess of EUR 10 billion in the application of environmental regulations by 2019.

At the working breakfast organized by the Belgrade Open School and the Konrad Adenauer foundation, Tadic said that the plans for the harmonization of Serbian regulations with the most important European directives that call for the largest investment would be prepared next year.

Tadic noted that the costs of harmonization were estimated at about EUR 1,400 per capita.
