Eko Wood opened a pellet plant in Petrovac na Mlavi in late October, the web portal eBranicevo.com has reported. In 2012, the furniture factory Javor in Petrovac was completely adapted to fit the needs of pellet production technology. In April 2013, 37 trucks loaded with machines arrived in Petrovac. These machines were assembled in the summer and production commenced in September.

Eko Wood CEO Zeljko Popovic told eBranicevo.com that they had come to the idea to invest in pellet productin in Serbia owing to a growing demand for pellets in EU countries, especially in Italy that imports pellets from the western Balkans and Serbia.

The newly built pellet plant employs 25 workers and has an installed capacity of 5 tonnes per hour, that is, 43,200 tonnes a year.
