Students from African, Arab and socialist countries were frequent guests in Serbia 40 years ago. Those times may return to our country as tens of thousands of foreign students are interested in resuming their education in Serbia, the preparations for which are in full swing, Education Minister Tomislav Jovanovic told the daily 24 sata.

- Most of the interested students come from Near East countries as well as from India and Indonesia. These countries are even interested in building student dormitories in Serbia in order to ensure accommodation for a large number of their students - the minister explained to 24 sata.

The interest of foreign students in Serbian universities skyrocketed after the University of Belgrade had made it to Shanghai's prestigious Top 500 list of universities. It should not be forgotten that a certain number of students from Near East countries are already studying in Serbia and that they are among the best promoters of our education in the world.
