Paying of toll in Serbia soon without stopping at toll stations

The system for contactless payment of toll on the highways has been represented in the Motor Association of Serbia (AMSS). The application of this system should begin in Serbia in mid-December 2006.

As it was said on that occasion, the first TAG devices, which were designed by Institute "Mihajlo Pupin" from Belgrade, will be installed on Belgrade - Šid highway. After that, in cooperation with Public Company "Putevi Srbije", the devices for contactless payment of toll will be installed on all highways in Serbia.

The drivers will be able to buy TAG device at the supply points of AMSS and they are to be installed on the windshield glass, from the inside, above the rearviewmirror, which will make it possible for the driver to drive through the toll stations on the highway without stopping.

For the time being, the speed at which automobiles can be driven through the toll station on the highway will be limited to 50 km/h. According to the claims of the experts from Institute "Mihajlo Pupin", the payment can be realized even at speed higher than 120 km/h.

In order for all this to have sense, the TAG device must either have the payment registered (similar to debit card), so that the toll station could be able to automatically take required amount of money (in prepaid regime) or the drivers will have to carry out payment later through the bill (postpaid).
