Bajatovic receives location permit for South Stream

Serbian Construction Minister Velimir Ilic today handed a location permit for the construction of South Stream to Juzni Tok Srbija (South Stream Serbia) CEO Dusan Bajatovic.

The location permit was presented to Bajatovic in the presence of Minister of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning Milan Bacevic and Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Igor Mirovic.

It was also announced on that occasion that the construction of South Stream through Serbia would start November 24th.

This gas pipeline is one of the most valuable investments in Serbia in the past few decades and as Bajatovic announced today, everything is ready for the start of works. It will take two years to complete the gas pipeline stretch in Serbia, whose value is estimated at EUR 1.925 billion.

The Serbian stretch of South Stream is 421 kilometers long. About 25,000 people will be hired to build this gas pipeline, whereas about 100,000 workers from Serbian construction companies, equipment manufacturers and service companies will be engaged indirectly.

This project will be implemented by the joint venture Juzni Tok Srbija owned by Srbijagas (49%) and Gazprom (51%).
