Who will invest 300m EUR in process for settlement of ecological problems of Petrohemija Pančevo ?

In order to prevent a catastrophe in Pančevo, huge investments into production units of Petrohemija are required. The management of the company appeals for a long time to the State, which became the majority owner through the conversion of the debt of the company in amount of 4 billion RSD, to invest into the modernization of the old technology, but not much has been done so far. When 27m EUR were set aside for the reconstruction of reservoir in Oil Refinery, the Government of Serbia directed part of the money into the reconstruction of two reservoirs in Petrohemija, but that was not enought for settlement of huge ecological problems.

Dragan Povrenović, the Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Environment Protection, cites that about 300m EUR whould be invested into the modernization of the production units of Petrohemija. The Government of Serbia expects that that money will be provided by the strategic partner interested in procurement of Pančevo-based Petrohemija and the tender should be announced at the beginning of year 2007.
