The Energy Community of Southeast Europe yesterday in Belgrade adopted the Regional Energy Strategy that covers 35 projects with an estimated value of about EUR 30 billion.

Serbian Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said after the 11th meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community that 100 projects dealing with electricity, gas and oil had been proposed, adding that all of them had cross-border influence.

She specified that out of 14 projects in the field of electrical engineering (with a capacity of 5,000 megawatts), seven were Serbian projects with a capacity of 2,400 megawatts.

Mihajlovic pointed out that the adoption of the list of projects was significant because the SEE region had been facing the energy deficit issue since 2001.

The Ministerial Council of the Energy Community made a decision at its meeting to extend the validity of the Energy Community Agreement by 10 years, until 2026.

This meeting was attended by the representatives of energy ministries of eight signatories to the Energy Community Agreement - Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine, and Serbia.
