Town Council of Svilajnac is close to having the reconstruction of the former factory of Belgrade-based textile company Beko completed. In about a month, a company from France will start production at this facility, Svilajnac Mayor Predrag Milanovic told Tanjug news agency Saturday.
As Milanovic explains, this 2,976 square meter facility situated in the town center was bought by the municipality along with all the equipment, stock and land at the 24th auction in April 2013.
This Beko factory was in bankruptcy and had been closed for 10 years. In order to buy it, the Town Council of Svilajnac took out a RSD 50m loan from a bank, says Milanovic.
Its value at the auction was EUR 1,147,000.
The Beko factory is the last factory in Svilajnac to have no owner.
