Since the outbreak of the global economic crisis, sales of new cars in Serbia have been constantly on a decline.
The situation would probably be even worse if there was not for Fiat 500L that has been sold in 1,597 copies in Serbia to date, Blic reports.
This means that almost every tenth car sold in Serbia was the model currently made in Kragujevac.
However, we should have in mind that 2012 was a catastrophically bad year and that many car importers and dealers were forced to reduce their operations to avoid the worst scenario.
This has resulted in reduced investments in the development of retail and service network and marketing activities. For the sake of comparison, car sales in Serbia hit a record high of nearly 44,000 cars in 2008, while the period January-September 2013 saw less than 17,000 vehicles sold in Serbia.
