Interrao and NIS want to invest in combined heat and power plants in Belgrade

Russia's Interrao and the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) are interested in investing in two combined heat and power (CHP) plants in Belgrade, Marko Stojanovic, director of the Energy Authority of the City of Belgrade, said Tuesday.

- Both locations are in New Belgrade. NIS is interested in building a new power plant, whereas Interrao looks to modernize an old heating plant - Stojanovic said at the CEDEF forum "Remote Heating in Serbia-Cogeneration and Heating Charge by Consumption".

- The capacity of these cogeneration plants ranges from 100 to 450 megawatts - said Stojanovic.

He stressed that another company, whose name he did not reveal, was interested in becoming a strategic partner for the construction of a CHP plant at Cerak with a capacity of 1 MW of electricity and 7.8 MW of heat.

- We are about to finish negotiations with that strategic partner - he said.
