After 14 years, a heart transplant was done again in Serbia at the Clinical Center of Serbia in the night between Friday and Saturday (20 and 21 September 2013).

Miljko Ristic, director of the Clinical Center of Serbia, confirmed to the national broadcasting corporation of Serbia (RTS) that a donor's heart had been successfully transplanted to a 52-year-old patient.

This surgery took more than six hours, and the patient is stable.

The first heart transplant in Serbia was done in 1995 at Dedinje Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Belgrade, whereas the last such surgery took place in 1999.
