Dacic presents investment opportunities in Serbia to US investors

Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said at the American-Serbian Business Forum titled "Invest in Serbia" in New Orleans that Serbia was a reliable and safe destination for investors.

As the national broadcasting corporation of Serbia (RTS) reports, Dacic presented investment opportunities in Serbia to the investors who attended the forum held September 16th and introduced them to the expected changes in the country, such as the simplification of bureaucratic procedures and tax reform.

The forum gathered about 50 companies, and the prime minister had a chance to talk with the representatives of leading mining companies Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc. and Chevron"s North America Exploration & Production.

According to him, Chevron is interested in exploring oil shales near Aleksinac.

New Orleans Mayor Mitchell Landrieu encouraged this direct way of attracting investment and offered a long-term economic cooperation.

He noted that the USA and "Serbia have so many common interests," adding that America therefore had to improve the cooperation through its cities.

This was Dacic's second official visit to the USA. The prime minister was first staying in America in May, when he met with the representatives of numerous companies, after which a cooperation in the field of information technologies was agreed upon.
