Dane Kondic nominated for CEO of Jat Airways

The Serbian government advised the Assembly of Jat Airways on Tuesday to appoint Dane Kondic as CEO of that airline, people from the government told Beta news agency.

Dane Kondic was introduced in early August as the CEO of Air Serbia, the airline that will replace Jat Airways on the basis of a strategic partnership agreement signed between the Serbian government and the UAE's flag carrier Etihad.

According to that agreement, Etihad will become the owner of 49 percent of the Serbian airline, whereas the owner of Jat Airways, the Serbian government, will keep a 51-percent stake in the new flag carrier.

The concentration of capital resulting from the acquisition of 49 percent of Jat Airways by Etihad Airways was approved by the Serbian Commission for the Protection of Competition on September 4th.

People at Etihad announced that they would take over the management of Serbia's flag carrier as soon as all regulatory requirements are met, and their original plan was to do this on September 1st.
