German chainsaw manufacturer Stihl opens regional office in Serbia

With a symbolic log cutting, the Stihl Serbia company was ceremoniously opened in Belgrade on Friday (6 September 2013). It is Stihl's 33th regional office in the world and the first in the region.

The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of the German parent company as well as the representatives of the media and numerous distributors with which Stihl has been working for years.

All attendees had a chance to tour the business building and training rooms, but the greatest attention was drawn by the demonstration of traditional log cutting occasioned by the opening of Stihl Serbia.

The guests were addressed by Hans Peter Stihl, an honorary board member who had been running this company for 30 years, and Dijana Peskir, director of Stihl Serbia.

- The Stihl Group operates on all five continents through 33 regional offices and with the help of 120 importers. We've picked Serbia primarily because it is a market with a potential, but also because we believe in the future of this country. We have no doubt that the current difficult economic situation will soon be behind you and that Serbia's market will experience an economic boom in few years. All this is backed by the future admission of Serbia to the EU - said Hans Peter Stihl.

Dijana Peskir stressed that the Stihl brand was present in the Serbian market for as many as 50 years.

- During that time, we've gained a selected circle of business partners and a large number of end-users. Over the past few months we have been witnessing our partners' great interest in the opening of Stihl Serbia, which is a significant stimulus and inspiration for us - said Dijana Peskir.

Andreas Stihl established the factory A. Stihl in 1926 in Cannsttat near Stuttgart. He also developed the first one-man chainsaw. Today, Stihl is a family firm employing 12,000 people. It has been the official No.1 chainsaw manufacturer for decades now.

Stihl Serbia is situated in Batajnicki Drum Road in Belgrade.
