Serbian products ready for Spar - SCC connects local food companies with Russian traders

Serbian food products meet the quality standards and criteria of the market chain Spar, thanks to which they could become recognizable in the demanding market of Russia, said Alexei Pavlov, a representative of the management of this company.

After presentations and talks with the representatives of about 15 Serbian food companies in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Pavlov pointed out that aside from quality, the price was also an important criterion for market competitiveness.

Thanks to the duty-free regime, that is, the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and Russia, Serbian manufacturers will be able to set favorable prices, Pavlov noted.

- We will start off with the import of products that do not require special storage conditions, such as confectionery, canned products, groceries. Spar is interested in importing fresh fruits and vegetables from Serbia this and next year.

Pavlov added that Spar had extensive experience with the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Hungary, and Czech Republic, stressing that they had also begun researching the food market in Serbia.

Sveta Vasiljevic, director of the SCC Office in Moscow, pointed out that Spar's suppliers from Serbia would have an advantage over their rivals because the Russian company was a world-famous market chain.

Spar, whose regional headquarters are situated in Tula, is one of the most significant market chains in Europe and Russia. Spar sells goods in Russia through 90 hypermarkets and generates an annual turnover of EUR 500 million.
