The overall reconstruction of the Vojvode Stepe street is starting late this year and ending by in late 2014, Aleksandar Bijelic, the city manager has announced.
He reminded that the reconstruction in Vojvode Stepe into a functional boulevard is one of the largest projects which will be implemented in Belgrade during the next year.
– The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank provided favorable loans for the project funding and the City of Belgrade set aside an amount as well. The project totals a bit more than EUR 22 mil - Bijelic reminded for Beoinfo.
He stressed out that during the construction works implementation, traffic in the street will not be halted.
Bijelic pointed out that the tender procedure delay from August to September, which was conditioned by the European banks due to project complexity, will not influence the planned deadline for the end of works.
– The procedure takes a bit longer since it is a big project. We are entering the final month when the offer will be opened. There are more than 60 quality companies which purchased documentation. Conditions for contractors are very severe since these are terms of the European banks while the City of Belgrade requires that the future contractor has strong references and to to provide guarantees for the quality of work and deadlines defined - Bijelic concluded.
